Go Digital with eBooks this February @ your Library
Do you have a Huntington City-Township Public Library Card and a portable device like a smartphone, iPad, eReader, or Tablet? Huntington City-Township Public Library will offer a series of Get eBooks @ Your Library workshops during the month of February.
Interested patrons should bring their reading or listening device and any questions they may have.
Workshops will be offered at both Library locations on the following days and times:
Main Library – 255 West Park Drive, Huntington.
- 11 am, Saturday, February 9
- 12 Noon, Monday, February 11
- 6pm, Wednesday, February 13
Markle Branch Library – 197 East Morse Street, Markle.
- 10 am, Saturday, February 23

Devices powered by Apple iOS or Android can use the Library’s Overdrive app to download books wirelessly – compatible devices include iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch, Windows Tablet, Android-based Tablet, Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Color, Tablet, HD, and HD+. However, some other devices may require users to check out library ebooks via computer – these include eInk versions of Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble NOOK Simple Touch, and other eInk-based eReaders. Patrons who own an eInk device are highly encouraged to bring a laptop, if they have one available.
HCTPL currently offers eAudiobooks and eBooks, which Library patrons can check out and download anytime, anywhere by visiting the library’s website at www.huntingtonpub.lib.in.us/downloadables. Patrons may browse the digital collection, check out items with a valid library card and six-digit PIN, and download them to a PC, Mac®, and to most mobile devices. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. There are no late fees: Titles automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and expired titles may simply be deleted from the patron’s device. Some computers and devices will require patrons to install free Adobe Digital Editions software in order to transfer titles from their computer to portable devices.
Anyone who lives within or owns property within the township limits of Huntington Township or within the town limits of Markle may obtain a library card at Huntington City-Township Public Library at no additional charge when they present proper identification that includes a current address. People who own property within Huntington Township or the town of Markle, but who reside elsewhere, will be also be required to show proof of real property ownership, such as a tax bill or deed. Huntington City-Township Public Library has partnered with six other public libraries to form the Northeast Indiana Digital Library consortium (NIDL). By combining resources and creating a shared digital collection, these seven libraries have maximized their buying power to provide the greatest possible variety for their patrons at the lowest cost. Other member libraries in the NIDL consortium include Berne Public Library, Eckhart Public Library in Auburn, Fremont Public Library, Nappanee Public Library, North Manchester Public Library, and Wells County Public Library in Bluffton.
