Area tweens and teens are invited to show their chess skills as the Huntington Library hosts a Chess Tournament from 10am to 2pm Saturday, January 14th. The tournament is led by community member and Huntington Library Chess Club leader John Martinez, and is open to grades 3-12. There will be a practice session held the week before on Thursday, January 14th at 6pm. Competitors will be divided up into Beginners and Advanced, with winners from each group championed at the end of the tournament. The tournament is very informal, however, so even if you haven’t played chess before, feel free to join in!
Every month on the second Thursday the Chess Club meets at the Huntington Library as well, with Thursday, January 12th’s 6pm meeting set to practice for the tournament. All in grades 3-12 are welcome to join that Thursday, as well as any other Chess Club night, as the club is open to all who wish to come.
