The Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County will be hosting a public QPR Suicide Prevention Training class at the Huntington Library from 3-5pm Tuesday, September 20th. The QPR mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training to as many people as possible. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US, with over forty-thousand Americans dying each year. And for every successful suicide, another 25 attempt but do not succeed. There are clear signs that someone you may know or is close to you is experiencing suicidal thoughts, and fortunately there are a few very simple steps we can take to help anyone contemplating taking their own life. The training will address the warning signs, as well as give practical steps we can take to save lives. It is geared for teens and adults.
The Huntington and Markle Libraries will be playing spooky movies every week during the month of October for the Spooky Movie Nights series. Every Monday from 6-8pm in Huntington and 5-7 in Markle, you can get in the Halloween spirit with free scary and spooky movies. All movies are well-known blockbusters and rated PG. For the complete movie list and schedule, check the Huntington Library’s website calendar at http://hctpl.info/calendar . All ages are invited.
