This summer, the Huntington Library will be hosting a variety of programs and events for teens as part of the superhero-themed Summer Reading Program! Chess is a game for those with super-hero focus, and the library’s calling chess superheroes everywhere to join up for some light-hearted matches! At 6pm June 11 and July 9, teens grades 6-12 can stop by to play chess, whether a beginner or pro. Snacks will be provided, and teens are encouraged to bring friends!
Teens are also invited to join art teacher Christine Nicholson for a workshop on creating your very own comic book! The workshop takes place Tuesday, June 16th from 6:30-7:30pm, and Nicholson will walk participants through creating characters, plotting the story, and how to tell the story in comic book form. All supplies will be provided, and teens can work together with a friend to make a comic together.
Both events are free and take place at the Huntington Library. While the chess matches do not require registration, the comic workshop is limited to the first 25 that sign up due to supplies limitations. For more information or to register, call the Young Adult Department at 356-2900.
