On May 18th the Huntington City-Township Public Library Board of Trustees passed a resolution to allow the Library to issue free library cards to students, teachers, and administrators in Huntington County schools. Any student age 17 and under, any teacher who currently teaches in a permanent teaching position and works at least half-time, and any school administrator working at least half-time in K-12 in schools in the Huntington County Community School Corporation and Huntington Catholic Schools, who does not live in the library district, now qualifies for a library card at the Huntington City-Township Public Library.
The goal of this service is to increase literacy in Huntington County as well as aid in the educational process for both teachers and students. Specific policies for eligibility and application requirements are in development and may be subject to change. For more information, visit the Library in Huntington or Markle, the library’s website at http://hctpl.info, or call the main desk at 260-356-0824.
