The Summer Reading Program begins soon, and the summer will be filled with a variety of events at the Huntington and Markle libraries. Some of these events will involve getting crafty — so if you love DIY, you’ll love these events!
First up is the annual Father’s Day Make & Take craft. Children ages 4 through grade 5 are invited to make a terrarium for their Father’s Day gift on Saturday, June 13 at the Huntington Library. The program is free, courtesy of the Master Gardeners of Huntington County, but limited to the first 25 participants who sign up. Make sure to call the Children’s Desk at 356-2900 to register!
The Huntington Library will be holding a series of craft nights for teens and adults throughout the summer. On Tuesday, June 23rd at 6pm, we’ll be painting old bricks to look like the book spines of our favorite novels. These look wonderful in gardens! On Tuesday, June 30th at 6pm, we’ll be using comic book and old book pages to decoupage a variety of items. Feel free to bring your own to decoupage as well! And on Tuesday, July 7th at 6pm, we’ll be decorating mugs with permanent markers! All of these events take place at the Huntington Library, with the exception of the July 7th mug and marker craft — this will take place at Markle as well all day Monday, July 6th. All of these events are completely free to participate, but registration is required for supplies purposes. Please call the Reference Desk at 356-0824 to sign up!
