The Huntington Library is happy to announce a new member to the library family! Ace is a juvenile Russian Tortoise who made the Huntington Library his home two weeks ago. Ace loves to eat leaves and weeds, as well as lounge under his sun lamp. Tortoises are quiet during the afternoon, but Ace is always up and moving in the morning and evening, so patrons and visitors who stop by the library after we open or before we close are likely to see him out from under his favorite log! Tortoises have incredibly long lifespans, too, so he should stick around for many generations of library patrons.
A library pet was one of the library’s most requested items, and the library staff are excited at the reptilian addition. Tortoises are calm, quiet, and hypo-allergenic, so patrons of all kinds can enjoy Ace’s company. Everyone is welcome to come visit him any time during library hours — his aquarium can be found near the Reference Desk. Don’t forget to sign up for the Summer Reading Program while you visit! The Huntington Library is located in downtown Huntington, at 255 West Park Drive. Make sure to check the library’s website, http://hctpl.info, as well as on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/HCTPL, to hear more from Ace in the near future.
