The Huntington City-Township Public Library and Markle Branch will be participating in Free Comic Book Day Saturday, May 2nd. Taking place annually on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book specialty shops and public libraries across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who walks through the door. Starting at 9am, any patron who enters either library location on Saturday, May 2nd can receive two free comic books while supplies last. The Huntington Main Library will also be screening the movie X-Men: Days of Future Past (rated PG-13) with free popcorn, to begin around noon.
Comic books are an original American art form, created in the early days of the twentieth century. They feature a range of diverse storylines that can capture the imagination of the readers. A wide variety of comics will be given for free this year, including but not limited to Doctor Who, Avengers, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Supermutant Magic Academy, Jojo Bizarre Adventure & Yu-gi-oh, and Lady Justice. The Huntington Library is located at 255 West Park Drive, Huntington, and the Markle Branch at 197 East Morse Street, Markle.
