Today’s Tuesday Tip is short but sweet. While we’re very proud of our book collection, we don’t have everything, yet! If you want to request that we add items to our collection and time is not of the essence, you can do that at the Circulation Desk. But if you need the materials sooner than we can order it, Inter-Library Loan is here to save the day.
To see if an item is available through Inter-Library Loan, simply stop into the Huntington Main Library and visit the Reference Desk. The Reference Librarian can assist you in borrowing the book from another library. Oftentimes, this is faster than if we were to order the book, which involves the book having to ship, arrive, be processed, and be cataloged before it can reach the shelf. And if the book is coming from another library in Indiana, it’s free!* You can use ILL to access many types of collection items, as well — you’re not just limited to books. So stop in and see our Reference librarian today to see what we’re able to get for you through Inter-Library Loan.
*If the item must be borrowed from out of state, there is a $5 fee. Additional fees may apply if the item requires a larger shipping fee, or if it’s coming from an international library.
