To request physical materials, such as books or movies that we don’t already have in our collection, any patron simply needs to come to the Circulation Desk and ask for it. But how does one request an eBook or eAudiobook? It is a different method, and here’s what you need to do:
- Visit the NIDL website, either through your device or at a computer (http://nidl.lib.overdrive.com/)
- Search for the title you wish to request as you would search for any other item.
- Once you see that it is not in the collection, you’ll see a sidebar on the left. In the first section of that sidebar, you should see three options: All Titles, Available Now, and Additional Titles to Recommend. Click Additional Titles to Recommend.
- Once you select this option, you will see more options populate the book list. Overdrive is now searching our online vendors, as well as other eBook/eAudiobook sellers, for titles we can potentially purchase for our consortium. Once you find the book you wish us to order, hover over it and click the Recommend button. That’s it! You’ve recommended the item for us to purchase.
There is a 24 hour limit of 3 total titles you may recommend before you are locked out. Once the 24 hours is up, however, you can resume recommending more titles.
