Huntington City-Township Public Library invites children ages 4-8 to attend the upcoming Raggedy Ann & Andy and the Christmas Kitten program. The program will include a Story Time session, a Raggedy Ann & Andy craft, music, a mini-booklet of coloring and activities to take home, and a special treat. The Library is offering two sessions of this holiday program; an evening session will begin at 6pm on Wednesday, December 11th, and an afternoon session will be offered at 4pm on Thursday, December 12th. The program is free, and the public is invited to attend. Registration is appreciated, but not required.
Based on the Raggedy Ann & Andy books by Johnny Gruelle, Raggedy Ann & Andy and the Christmas Kitten was written by Andrew Clements. Raggedy Ann, Raggedy Andy, and their friends are thrilled when they find a lost kitten on Christmas Eve. But when the kitten turns out to be a handful, Raggedy Ann comes up with a plan sure to make Christmas Day truly unforgettable.
This program was designed to meet more than twenty of the academic standards in music, art, and reading that are recommended by the Indiana State Department of Education for children in first grade. At the end of the program, each child will be given an mini-booklet of activities that also fit these academic standards. Sessions designed for children younger than six will include most, but not all, of the components listed above. Anyone who would like more information about the program, or the academic standards used to design it, is encouraged to contact Kay Stine, head of the Library’s Children’s Department, by phone at 260-356-2900, or by email at email@example.com.
